Mock election. Real world danger. Ainsley’s relationship and reputation may not survive the campaign trail.

Still reeling from the targeted attack on her family, Ainsley is determined to keep a low profile during senior year. But a mandatory class project pulls her back into the political fray as the mock Democratic presidential candidate. With the entire campus watching, Ainsley knows it’s only a matter of time before her rival turns the spotlight on her and her secretive girlfriend.

Groomed from birth by her politically connected family, Ainsley knows she can handle the abuse. But shielding her girlfriend’s secrets is a matter of life or death. To protect the ones she loves, Ainsley will need to use every shrewd political move in the book.

I had the good fortune to ask TB a couple of questions about her new release!

Why did you want to write this book, specifically?
It’s the second book in The Chosen One series, which centers around American politics. I’ve always been fascinated by American politics and history, but I’ve never been tempted to actually run for office, which is my definition of hell. The Hidden One allowed me to write about what it would be like to be a candidate without actually doing so in real life.

What do you like best about it?
While the book deals with politics and some heavy subjects, I tried to keep humor front and center. I’ve always been a fan of the saying, “It is better to laugh than cry.” The past couple of years have been difficult for many living in the US and I’ve heard from many readers that the story has helped them during these times.

Can you tell the readers something about The Hidden One that they might not know just from reading the book?
Many who have read my A Woman Lost series know I’m a history nerd. I’m also an American political news junkie. I listen to way too many political podcasts, just like Ainsley in The Hidden One, hardly ever miss The Rachel Maddow Show, subscribe to several newspapers in the US and UK, in addition to reading articles on Politico, Axios, and others including right-leaning sites in a woeful attempt to stay impartial. The Chosen One series allows me to bring out the political animal inside me without actually having to run for office. Because that would be my definition of hell.

In ten words or less, tell us why we should buy this book?
If you like romance, satire, and surprising twists, you’ll love The Hidden One.
